Objectives | The project objective is to provide DfT with information on the likely production, distribution and supply costs, excluding taxes, of Biodiesel and Bioethanol from international markets both now and in 2020. This information will help DfT assess the potential of biofuels for transport in the UK.

Abstract | This project will investigate international resource costs of Biodiesel and Bioethanol. The study will look at a range of possible feedstock, processing routes and distribution options for Biodiesel and Bioethanol in both 2002 and 2020, including some routes where intermediate products are imported to the Uk and processed here. The production of Biofuels from the Uk will not be addressed. Instead, the study will focus on other European Union sources and those regions of the world which may beable to produce Biodiesel and / or Bioethanol for export at a competitive price due to the advantagious growing conditions or cheap labour costs. | |
